Cannot download videos

Dear Sir, Madam,

I have an issue with VDownloader (4.5.2867.0).

Whenever I try to download a video (regardless of the format that I choose), I get an error message stating that ‘there is no free space for download’, while I have upwards of several hundreds of gigabytes of free storage.

Additionally, on startup the application minimizes to just above the start button, as can be seen in the screenshot below.

I have already tried updating the application and I have also done a re-install (including deleting what I believe to be the configurations stored in the %localappdata% directory), all to no avail.

I am using Windows 10 x64 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update).

I have the full, purchased version (if need be I can provide proof).

Below you will find some configurations I pulled from the %localappdata% directory (perhaps they are of some use?).

Hi,

This issue seems to be related with the fact that you are saving your downloads to a network folder, which may cause some conflicts.

Have you tried mapping the network folder as a Drive? If not, can you please do it and retry to download to that folder?

You can find some instructions on how to do that in this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026635/windows-map-a-network-drive

P.S.: I'm going to truncate your response so all your config files aren't visible to other users.

Thanks.

I did do a full re-install of my machine a few days ago and I have just now re-installed VDownloader. Upon installation I configured the default download location to be on a local disk, which allows me to download music again.

However, I am unsure if the re-install of my machine solved the issue or if the issue was being caused by the default download location being on a network drive.

If you want to I am willing to help you investigate why the issue was being caused, though I now consider the issue to be resolved since I can download again.

Also, I did notice the error of the application minimizing just above the start button is also not present anymore, so I guess the reinstall must have also had some positive effect :)

Hi Andre,

The issue was most likely caused by the download location being on a network drive. This is an issue that has been reported before and seems to occur only sometimes, but only if the network drive is NOT mapped as a Windows drive.

When you have time, can you please map the folder as a network drive (use the link I sent you above to find out how) and then try to download to that location again, but with the mapped drive folder path? Should be something like 'Z:\folder\' instead of path starting with '\\'.

As for the error with application minimizing just above start button, yes this issue was fixed in the latest update :-).

Yes, it seems like using a proper drive-mapping solves the issue:

Hi Andre,

Thank you very much for helping us troubleshoot this, and I'm glad that everything is ok now.

I will pass this info to our developers so they can take a look at how we can prevent this from happening even when drive is not mapped.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

Best Regards,

Diogo Alves @ VDownloader

Hello Diogo,

No, that was the only issue I had. Thank you for assisting me! :)

Kind regards,

Andre
