Youtube downloads

When I copy the video URL and paste it into VDownloader opening and closing brackets appear thus () about 10 spaces to the right of the address and I get the message "This it is not a valid video URL" when I tell it to download. Have tried various sites with the same result. Can you assist.

Hi Diogo,

I was using 4.2.1820.0 on Windows 10 and the URL was https://youtu.be/iYDre8M71ok  However since posting the problem I checked my wife's laptop which has 4.1.1463.0 on it and it downloaded OK. I came back to the PC and uninstalled 4.2.1820.0 and then did a reinstall from my hard drive which installed 4.0.1001.0 and using the above URL downloaded it successfully.

Have I helped or confused the issue? I'm happy to work with 4.0.1001.0. or I'll take 4.1.1463.0 from the laptop.

Cheers,

George

Hi George,

Thank you for your feedback.

We will take the necessary actions to fix the issue with "youtu.be" URL's in the next VDownloader update (which should happen before the end of this month). Is that ok?

In the meantime, what you can do is to paste the URL you sent me to your browser. You will notice that it will change from that "youtu.be" URL to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYDre8M71ok&feature=youtu.be . If you copy that one, it will work on VDownloader. It's the exact same video, just equivalent URL.

By the way, I do not recommend using outdated versions, simply because there are some other issues that can surface while using outdated versions. As of today, the latest version is 4.2.1820.0.

Hi George!

Can you please pass me a few URL's from videos that you've tried to download?

Also, can you take a look at the upper right-hand corner of VDownloader's main window and tell me which version you're running?

Best Regards,

Diogo Alves @ VDownloader
